Outdoor Recreation
About Us
Here at outdoor recreation, we strive to create a space for students to build a supportive community and environment where they can be challenged to move beyond their comfort zones. Within this community, we aim to facilitate connections to nature, God, and fellow Pepperdine students through the various outdoor activities we do! With activities ranging from rock climbing, skiing, and camping to backpacking, beach days, and movie nights, outdoor recreation has something for everyone and we welcome all experience levels!
Every year, the Outdoor Recreation Council chooses a theme that embodies their mission for the year. This year's theme is "Blooming in Community."
To bloom is to mature into the fullest expression of someone or something’s beauty, which is only made possible by the support of a nourishing community. As we seek to explore the depths of nature’s beauty around us and strive to develop into the kind of people we seek to be, we do so with each other. Our hope for the year can be summed up by the wise words of Socrates, “Give me beauty in the inward soul; may the outward and inward human be at one” and also from scripture in Hebrews 10:24-25, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
