How to Apply for Housing

Welcome home, Waves! We are so excited for you to begin your new journey here at Pepperdine. To apply for on-campus housing for the 2025-2026 academic year, please follow the process below.

Apply on the Housing Portal

The Housing Portal is currently accepting applications for College of Health Science students! Students must be accepted to the University, submit the "Intent to Enroll" form, and pay the enrollment deposit before access to the portal is granted. If an error message appears, make sure your "Intent to Enroll" deposit has been submitted. After submission, allow 24 to 48 hours before the process is complete.

Once the portal is open, you will complete a housing application for the academic year. Students will have the opportunity to answer lifestyle questions that will help them choose potential roommates. You can use the messaging system to contact other students and select a person to room with.

Deadline for contracts and roommate selection

Complete the lifestyle questionnaire in order to pair up with a roommate within 10 days of gaining access to the Housing Portal. Students who submit applications after the deadline are still guaranteed housing, but they will not have the option of selecting a roommate nor are they guaranteed notification of their placement. All placement notifications will be sent prior to check-in day.

Placements confirmed via email

Students who submit their contract by the priority deadline will receive an email to their Pepperdine account with their placement and roommate's name.

Other important deadlines:

  • Requests to be considered for a residency exemption are due as soon as possible for new students. Please contact the Housing Office for more information.
  • Requests for housing accommodation through the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) require registering with that office. It is important to note that most accommodations can be met in our campus housing options and this approval is separate from academic accommodations.

Frequently Asked Questions

I understand Pepperdine has a Residency Requirement. Tell me more about this policy.

In congruence with Pepperdine's mission to establish a community that fosters social, academic, and spiritual growth, all new undergraduate residents are required to live on campus and have a meal plan for their first two academic years. We believe the relationships and community that are built during these first years of attending Pepperdine are vital to the college experience. The Housing and Residence Life program provides an atmosphere that empowers students to make connections between faith, independent living, and academic learning within a diverse community. Requests to be considered for a residency exemption should be submitted within 10 days of enrolling at the University and more information about the process can be found on the community website.

How do I submit my housing contract and select a roommate and suitemates?

From our community website, you can apply for housing and find a roommate by logging into the Housing Portal. While in the application, fill out the lifestyle questionnaire in order to pair up with a roommate within 10 days of gaining access to the Housing Portal. New students who submit applications will receive confirmation of their room assignment and their roommate’s name on a rolling basis until the beginning of the start of the term.

For a step-by-step guide on how to apply for housing and create a roommate group, please visit our community website.

How do I apply for housing accommodations for a chronic medical condition?

If you would like to apply for a housing accommodation through the Office of Student Accessibility, please complete the process with that office within 5 days of enrolling at the University. It is important to note that most accommodations can be met in our campus housing options and require a separate approval from academic accommodations. For more information on this process, please visit the Office of Student Accessibility website.

Where can I find information about New Student Orientation (NSO)?

Please visit the New Student Orientation (NSO) website for more details and frequently asked questions!

  What's my network ID?

Your network ID is used to sign your contract and is the same as your WaveNet username, in all lowercase letters (e.g., jdoe).

What if I do not have a roommate picked out?

No worries! In the Housing Portal, you will be asked a series of questions about your lifestyle preferences and our software will recommend compatible roommates for you to connect with. You can message other students to ask whether they'd like to room with you. You can also choose not to create a roommate group and we will place you as an individual while taking your lifestyle preferences into consideration as much as we can.

What if I cannot access the portal?

Please send an email to housing@pepperdine.edu with your name, CWID, and a description or screenshot of the error message you have received. We will respond to emails as quickly as possible in the order that they are received. You can also call us at 310.506.7586 during business hours.

  How much does housing cost?

You can review the housing rates for our various living areas on our website.

How do I select a meal plan? What meal plan options are available?

New first-year and transfer students are required to purchase the standard meal plan and have the option to upgrade to a larger meal plan. Students will select a meal plan after they are officially placed in housing. New students who do not select a meal plan will be automatically enrolled in Meal Plan E. A list of all our meal plan options and rates can be found online.

What am I allowed to put on the walls of my room?

You may hang items on your walls by using small nails, tacks, or putty only. No screws or bolts are allowed. Do not hang items from your ceiling. TV or surfboard mounts are not allowed. Surfboards may be stored in the common living area.

Is there air-conditioning in on-campus housing? Can I bring an air conditioner?

On-campus residential housing is not air-conditioned (with the exception of Drescher W Block). Residents are not allowed to install air conditioners of any kind. Portable fans are allowed as long as the window screen remains in the window. Nothing can extend from the window or the building.

Can I mount my TV to the wall?

No. TV mounts, large screws, nails, or bolts are not allowed.

What other student policies should I be aware of?

We encourage you to review our Housing and Residence Life Student Policies for additional information about on-campus housing policies and procedures.
