Kyoto, Japan
Pepperdine is delighted to announce a new year-round program in Kyoto, Japan, for the 2026-2027 academic year! Studying abroad in Kyoto presents students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Japan's rich cultural heritage while experiencing the perfect balance of modern innovation and ancient traditions. Kyoto was the capital of Japan for more than 1,000 years and is still considered by many to be the cultural and historical heart of Japan. From cherry blossom trees to iconic Zen temples to the more than 20 UNESCO heritage sites in and around the city, Kyoto offers unparalleled opportunities for learning, cultural immersion, and transformational growth.
Given that this is the first year of Pepperdine's Kyoto program, students can only apply to the Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 semester (full academic year opportunities are not yet available). Pepperdine will be partnering with a local institution for residential and classroom options, and more details will be posted over the next few months.
