Introduction to Orientation

New Student Orientation facilitates a successful college transition by introducing new students and families to Pepperdine's engaging campus community, academic environment, Christian mission, and support resources in a welcoming atmosphere conducive to building new relationships. In order to provide the best transition to campus for new students, current students come back early to serve their fellow waves. Student leaders are an integral part of the new student experience. They provide assistance, guidance, mentorship, and a friendly face to welcome incoming students and families. There are two leadership positions for orientation:

1. Orientation Leaders (OL): Orientation Leaders help new students move into their residence halls, assist with informational sessions, participate in new student activities and are available to answer general questions. OLs must attend training sessions prior to NSO and are required to serve through the duration of NSO. There are approximately 100 positions available.

2. Orientation Coordinators (OC): Orientation Coordinators provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to the Orientation Leaders as they prepare them to serve the incoming students during orientation in August. OCs are responsible for elements of orientation planning and implementation, OL training, and information sessions. This position requires dedication, a servant heart and a commitment to Pepperdine's Christian mission. Students must have served as an Orientation Leader in order to be eligible to apply for the position of Coordinator and must be available for training prior to NSO. There are approximately 6-8 positions available.
