What Happened
You reached this page because you used links in a simulated phishing email sent by the Pepperdine Information Security Office (ISO). Had this been a real phishing email, you might have compromised your account or University data.
Pepperdine ISO may routinely send simulated phishing emails to our University community to promote awareness and sharpen security skills.
NOTE: The simulated message was not sent by or affiliated with any companies or websites referenced in the test email. The purpose of this message is to demonstrate how phishing attacks deceptively appear to be from Pepperdine or other sources so that you can avoid scams in the future.
Learning Moment
To protect yourself and the University from scammers, please remember to:
Verify
- Always verify the email address. Check the email address to see who the sender claims to be or where the message came from.
- Review the link destinations in email messages. If the destination is an unusual or foreign location, don't click it!
- If you are unsure of an email's legitimacy, verify with the sender through known communication channels (not phone or links within the suspicious message).
Report
- If your gut tells you an email is suspicious, report it with our Phish Alert Button. The ISO team will review and investigate accordingly.
- Never forward or reply to suspicious emails. If you cannot find the Phish Alert Button, keep yourself safe by deleting the email.
