Add Redirect Tool

How to Use:

In order to add a custom link directly to your Pepperdine Canvas course navigation menu, you can use the Redirect Tool. Give your link a custom name and then set it to point to an external website, a Canvas page, or any other resource of your choosing. You can set the link to either open within your Pepperdine Canvas site or launch it in a new browser tab. 

 
How to Add:

  1. Select your desired course and then navigate to Settings in the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Select the Apps tab at the top of the page, on the right.
  3. Find and click on the Redirect Tool (look for a large blue arrow icon).

  4. On the Redirect Tool screen, click + Add App.

 

Fill out the form:

  1. Next to Name: Fill out the name for the link as you would like it to appear in the course menu.
  2. Next to URL Redirect: Insert the URL to which you would like to link (internal or external).
  3. You will be given the available options:
    • Force open in new tab (For External Links Only)
    •  Show in Course Navigation (always check this box). 
    •  Show in Account Navigation
    •  Show in User Navigation
  4. Be sure to always check the box next to 'Show in Course Navigation'.
  5. Click Add App to save.

Once you have added, return to your course homepage and check the new link in the navigation menu to make sure it works as expected. If you set your link to open in a new tab, students will see a blank Pepperdine Canvas page with an "Open in New Tab" button.
