Course Evaluations: Students

Overview

Course evaluations are part of Pepperdine University's commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.  The evaluations provide useful feedback that faculty and schools use to improve the quality of instruction.  Each instructor receives a compilation of the anonymous responses and comments to use in evaluating his or her own teaching and planning future courses.  Faculty do not have access to course evaluation data until all course grades are posted.

To inform and remind students to complete their course evaluations, email announcements will be sent once the course evaluation process begins.  Students also will receive reminder emails until they complete all course evaluations or the evaluation period ends.

To access the online course evaluation system log into WaveNet and select the "Student" tab. On the "Home" screen, look for the "Popular Links" heading" and click the "Online Course Evaluations" link.  You can also log on directly at https://CourseEval.pepperdine.edu.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will the online course evaluation system protect student anonymity?

Pepperdine University uses a third party course evaluation vendor to provide an extra layer of security for the students. Student names are used only for delivery of the survey to ensure that each student receives a survey for each course in which they are enrolled. Once responses are submitted, they are collected and reported anonymously; individual identifiers (e.g., your name) are not associated with your responses. When faculty see the reports, they see only aggregate results. Faculty cannot determine the identity of a student who submitted an evaluation.

Can professors see my feedback before grades are submitted?

No. Feedback is only seen by professors and departments after grades are posted.

I completed my course evaluation but it still appears in the list as not completed, what should I do?

When an evaluation has been completed and submitted the course evaluation will display as completed and be shown in the "completed" section.

If you have completed the survey and it does not appear in the completed portion of the page, please contact your school's administrator by emailing CourseEval@pepperdine.edu.

Can I print out a page to show I completed my survey?

Yes. Please log into your course evaluation, on the home page click the "Completed Surveys" link found in the upper right hand corner of the page. You will then be taken to a page that shows all of the surveys you have completed. This page can be used as your confirmation page.

What should I do if I cannot finish the evaluation right now?

At the end of each section, there is a "Save Progress" button. Using this button will allow students to save their work and return to the evaluation while the evaluation period remains open. After the evaluation period has closed for a given semester/trimester, students will not be able to edit or submit evaluations.

We use MS Internet Explorer to access CoursEval and sometimes we can't get to it. What is wrong?

Internet Explorer is no longer supported.  While the application may work, we strongly recommend that you choose a modern, supported web browser like Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. You may also want to switch to the new Microsoft Edge browser.

In the past, the problem with Internet Explorer was often related to the settings. For example, if the privacy settings on the browser are set to not accept cookies, students will be unable to use CoursEval until cookies are allowed/enabled.

To allow cookies in Internet Explorer, please try the following:

  1. Go to Tools and select Internet Options.
  2. Click on the Privacy Tab.
  3. Move the slider to Medium.
  4. Click "Apply" then "OK."

We hope that these steps may allow you to access CoursEval™. If not, please use a supported web browser instead.
