Mail Training Courses

Google Mail Basics (Beginner) - This 60 minutes, hands-on training session will provide faculty, staff, and students real time training in using Google Mail. Central to this classroom/lab training are practical exercises which are designed to provide experience and boost your confidence in using Google Mail. In this training you will:

  • Navigate within Google Mail and tailor your inbox preferences
  • Tips and tricks to compose, send, and read email, including conversation/thread view
  • "Archive" your email as well as set-up and use labels for increased efficiency
  • Search your email
  • Set up and use filters
  • Set up the Gmail app on your mobile device

Calendar Training Courses

Google Calendar Basics (Beginner) - This 60 minutes, hands-on training session will provide faculty, staff, and students real time training in using Google Mail. Central to this classroom/lab training are practical exercises which are designed to provide experience and boost your confidence in using Google Mail. In this training you will:

  • Navigate your Google Calendar and set-up your Calendar preferences
  • Create and accept calendar events
  • Share your calendar and view other calendars
  • Create other calendars.
  • Set up the Calendar app on your mobile device

Sheets Training Courses

Getting Started with Google Sheets (Beginner) is a 90 minute in-class, hands-on session tailored for faculty and staff who have little or no working experience with either Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. This class will provide an overview of Google Sheets along with its advantages as well as a real-time experience in completing the following tasks:

  • Use Google Drive to organize, search, upload files/folders and share your files
  • Create and run basic formula and spreadsheet functions such as: Count, Sum, Average...
  • Share a Google Sheet for collaboration allowing others to edit
  • Sort, Filter and use Conditional Formatting to organize and analyze data
  • Create a Google Sheets Pivot Table

Hangouts Training Courses

Using Google Hangouts for Meetings (Beginner) is a 60 minute in-class, hands-on session is designed to give the Pepperdine faculty or staff member the skills and tips to setup and host a Hangout meeting with up to 25 people. With Hangouts you can send chat messages and make video calls anytime, anywhere, which can save the University money and time on travel, and provide all the benefits of face-to-face contact. In this class you will complete the following tasks:

  • Set up your computer audio, video (and headset if needed) for Hangouts
  • Start a Chat to initiate an impromptu video Hangout and join a video call
  • Create a Hangout meeting request from your Google Calendar
  • Work within the video call, to:
    • Share your screen for presentations/View someone's screen
    • Add more people to the video call
    • Turn your microphone or camera on or off
    • Leave the call
