Copy Materials from Another Class Site in Pepperdine Canvas

Import Content: What Does It Do?

The "Import Existing Content" feature in Pepperdine Canvas allows you to copy materials from one class site to a different class site. When you importing existing content into a class site in Pepperdine Canvas, you can think of this as a merge action, adding the copied materials from one site into another. Performing this import once will not overwrite existing content in a site.

How You Can Use It

  • Copy content from one section into other sections
  • Import materials from previous class sites into new class sites

Avoiding Data Loss

Importing the same course content more than once will overwrite any existing content in the course. This overwriting applies to multiple content types such as assignments, pages, and discussions. Be particularly mindful of this with quizzes and assignments, as it can potentially alter student grades and work if you re-import the same content after students have already submitted to it.

Important Recommendation: Import content from a source site only once. Importing content should only occur prior to the beginning of the term.
