Pepperdine Canvas Grades

Overview

Learn how to use the Grades tool in Pepperdine Canvas.

What Does It Do?

The Grades tool offers a secure way for instructors to input, manage, and share course grade information with students. It displays a spreadsheet of each student's grades for the course instructors. For students, it displays their specific grade report.

How You Can Use It

  • Define your grade posting policy to manage assignment grade visibility for students
  • Securely share progress with students throughout the tenure of the course
  • Use filters and sorting to efficiently manage large rosters or multiple assignment groups

Reminders

Weighting

To categorize graded activities and assign weighting, you will add assignment groups and then define assignment group weighting. This is accomplished in the Assignments tool, not the Grades tool.

Posting Policy

An important step when configuring the Grades tool is determining whether you want the system to automatically post (or show) grades to students, or if you, as the instructor, want to manually control the release of the grades. Define your grade posting policy.

Grade Visibility

Based on your posting policy, individual assignment grades will be shown or hidden by default. You may also show or hide the overall grade for students. Learn more about grade visibility.
