IT Service Impacts: 2025 Wildfires

Overview

Due to damage from the recent Palisades wildfire, select University services may be impacted at the Calabasas (CAL), Irvine (IGC), and West LA (WLA) graduate campuses. The primary reason is that connectivity between our campuses and the Malibu (MAL) campus data center has been impacted. While the campuses have network services, the direct and private network between the campuses and MAL has been disrupted.

Status of Select Services

All services are restored as of Tuesday morning, January 15, 2025. Prior to this time, select services like some on-campus phones/phone features, copier printing, S:/U: Network Drives, and access to select University websites were unavailable at CAL, IGC, and WLA campuses. Networking teams worked internally and with service providers to offer alternate routing due to damaged network lines in Malibu.

Workarounds

Workarounds should not be necessary at this time. In the event that a service is not currently working or has intermittent connectivity on a local campus due to fire impacts, however, please try a personal mobile hotspot (cellular network) as a backup or contact Tech Central (see contact details below).

We thank our community for their support and understanding during these challenging times. Pepperdine IT continues to work with our vendors and multiple service providers to resolve any campus issues as soon as possible.
