Google Calendar How To's
Pepperdine University offers many resources to help you in effective Google Calendar usage. You can sign up for a live training session with our IT Training team, visit the Google Workspace Learning Center, or complete a LinkedIn Learning training about Google Calendar.
You can easily create a new calendar besides your primary calendar to keep track of different types of events. For example, you could create a calendar called "Marketing Group" that tracks upcoming events for a certain group of people. For detailed instruction, please see the Google Workspace Learning Center.
Creating calendar events is a key responsibility for Pepperdine employees. Please see the Google Workspace Learning Center for details on event creation.
Your Pepperdine Google Calendar is a great way to keep track of key events, schedule meetings, and even set goals, reminders, or tasks. An important feature of your calendar is the ability to share it with specific people, everyone at Pepperdine, or even the public. Google Calendar makes it easy to either keep your calendar private, offer some visibility to others, or even allow others to manage your calendar. To empower our community to effectively and efficiently schedule meetings, we recommend that all Pepperdine community members enable the "free/busy" setting on their personal work calendar. If you need to change these settings, visit the Google Workspace Support Center to learn more.
You can set up a block of appointments on your calendar for people to reserve. Appointment slots are useful for professors who want to invite their students to reserve time during office hours each week. Appointment slots allow you to make yourself available for people to schedule time with you. Once you have set up your appointment block, you can invite others to reserve time with you using a booking link to your appointments page. Google will automatically update your calendar, preventing you from being overbooked. For detailed instruction, please see the Google Workspace Learning Center.
Appointment Slots work similarly to Appointment Schedules, allowing you to make yourself available for people to schedule time with you.
